Episode 8 - Owl About Yarn
It's been a while... and it's a long one. Join me to discover Owl About Yarn, a brief review of Edinburgh Yarn Fest, and some sample knitting. Directly below is the video podcast and below below are the links and some more info.
Jennie is just a lovely person to natter with - full of laughter, giggles and colour. Most of her colours are one of a kind which allows her to follow her creativity and play and experiment with the dye pots. Jennie's colours cover everything from the bold and confident to the subtle and muted.
Currently the majority of Owl About Yarn bases are sock weight and revolve around 'owly' personalities. There are her 'work-horse' bases - Cuddly Owl (75 % Superwash Merino, 25% nylon) and Happy Owl (75% BFL, 25% nylon) and her more 'special occasion' bases - Tibetan Owl (a divine mix of 60% Superwash Merino, 20% SILK and 20% YAK!), Sparkle Owl (75% Superwash Merino, 20% nylon and 5% Stellina), and Luxury Owl (a decadent 70% superwash Blue Faced Leicester, 20% silk and 10% cashmere). I get the feeling we'll be seeing seeing some more DK and Aran bases in the shop too so keep your eyes peeled for that. And not only is Jennie super talented at dying Yarn but you can also find, patterns, fun project bags and progress keepers in her Etsy shop too. I don't know how she does it.
Jennie is a regular blogger and podcaster and is regularly to be found at Yarn festivals around the country (Wool at J13 on 12th/13th May being one - http://wool-j13.uk/) . I thoroughly recommended getting to one of these to give her yarns a squish.
Jennie is also part of the great Knit Tea Retreat duo (the other half being Zoe of the Pins and Needles podcast). The first Knit Tea Retreat is going to be in October in Cardiff and I am very excited.... I think it's sold out not but if you want to make sure you get to the next one then sign up for their updates (and hilarious podcasts) - https://theknittearetreat.wordpress.com/
