Flourish Fibres

The star of this episode is Fi of Flourish Fibres! I was lucky enough to meet Fi at the Stratford Knit Tea Retreat this summer and instantly fell in love with the beautiful and subtle palette of her yarns. Fi uses both commercial and natural dyes but is moving more towards the natural dyes because of the wonderfully surprising and fascinating results. I managed to get an interview with Fi in Cardiff so click on the video above to get a deeper look at her yarns and hear from her about her yarns!

Flourish Fibres Etsy Shop - Fi still has some of her Natural Dyed Yarn Advent Calendars available!

I have worked a couple of patterns in Fi’s commercial dyed yarns - see the project pages below!

The Knit Tea Retreat

I met up with Fi at the Cardiff Knit Tea Retreat in October. I’ve been lucky enough to attend all of the Knit Te Retreats since they started last year. They are the brain child of Jennie (@owlaboutyarn) and Zoe (@pinsandneedlesuk) and they run two events a year - one in October in Cardiff with workshops, and one in Stratford which is like one big knit night. They are so much fun and i think it speaks volumes that they have so many people returning! As such i’ve got to know some lovely folks there!

Bookings are now open for the The Knit Tea Retreat Stratford 2020 (12-14th June)!

Charlie Button Yarns

This past six months I’ve been having a play at a really fun project. I’ve been taking the unwanted fleeces from my neighbours’ small flock of Jacobs, Rylands and Hebrideans and getting them processed in to yarn with a small batch spinner. It’s been so much fun and it doesnt get more local!

I’ve called it Lancashire Brew as it all comes from flocks grazing the Ribble Valley and the side of Pendle Hill!

100% natural, sustainable and Lancashire! This is Jacob fingering weight yarn!

I made the decision not to sell online - because I am hopeless at getting stuff in the post and also i dont have that much! But i did have a small stand at the Knit Tea Retreat Market place!
